Kauai is stunning ! Photographing Kauai is special. Here’s why:
Natural Beauty: Kauai is known as the "Garden Island" because of its lush, tropical landscape. The island is home to stunning waterfalls, verdant forests, and pristine beaches, which provide countless opportunities for beautiful landscape photography.
Wildlife: Kauai is home to a diverse array of wildlife, including native birds, sea turtles, and monk seals. Photographers can capture these creatures in their natural habitats, providing an up-close look at the island's unique ecosystem.
Cultural Sites: Kauai is steeped in Hawaiian culture, and there are several historic sites on the island that offer unique photo opportunities. For example, the ancient Hawaiian fishponds in Hanalei Bay or the heiau (sacred sites) such as the one found in Wailua River State Park.
Weather and Lighting: Kauai's tropical climate means that the island experiences frequent rain showers and dramatic weather patterns. These conditions can provide unique lighting and cloud formations that add depth and drama to photographs.
Kauai offers a wealth of photographic opportunities for nature and cultural enthusiasts. If you’re visiting the islands and would like some tips,

Winter is here !
I always get excited driving up north to Ke’e beach. Luckily I live on Kauai so I can drive up there any time with no need for a reservation. Yesterday the weather was rainy and overcast when I left my home. But by the time I get to the Haena State Park parking lot, the clouds had cleared up just enough to get some decent, moody shots.
I love a good black and white image, I understand that some don’t. Quite often when it’s overcast the colors of the landscape are very flat but the black and white contrast really pops. See for yourself please !
New beginnings !
I’m transitioning to a new website template. My goal is to have 200+ images of Kauai up as soon as possible. Then I will add new ones as I shoot them and I will also post interesting info about Kauai as I come across it. Enjoy !
